Questions you might ask during the eye examination if your child has an eye or vision problem and needs treatment:
What is my child’s eye or vision problem? What caused it?
Will it get better or worse?
Will my child need eyeglasses?
What are the treatment options?
Will the eye or vision problem limit my child’s activities?
Can my other children have this same eye or vision problem?
When should I return for the next exam?
Ask at a follow-up eye examination appointment: Are there any changes since the last exam? Better or worse vision?

National Eye Institute Free or Low-Cost Eye Care
Eye care can be expensive. The good news is that there are programs that offer free or low-cost eye exams and eyeglasses. Some health insurance plans also provide free vision screenings.
Vision benefits are covered for those with full-scope Medi-Cal benefits. For questions regarding your Medi-Cal eligibility, please contact your county social services office.
