P.E.-
Kindergarten:
We have really been hooping it up In Kindergarten PE class! We have been focusing on the fundamentals of basketball. Students work on improving their dribbling skills, shooting skills, and passing skills in various games and stations. In shooting we focus on creating a capital letter L and a capital letter I with our shooting arm and then waving bye bye to the ball for our follow through each time we shoot. Students are also working on improving hand eye coordination as we practice several different ball handling skills each day. Our kindergarten students are really becoming hoop-stars! ;-)
Art -
In the art room this month Kindergarten students have been learning about the whimsical artist Gustav Klimt. Looking at his fancy gold paintings has inspired us to create our own “Tree of Life” using metallic paints and oil pastels. They are beautiful!
Next we will move into our snow theme by creating our town of “Snovalville” where all our “snovals” will live. Students will create an oval shaped snow person using collage with mixed media of buttons, yarn, different types of papers, etc. We will also be making 2D snow globes that share favorite things to do outside.
Just an FYI….most of your child’s artwork will stay at school. Students' artwork is displayed around the school and then kept in their art portfolios. In May, students will review all their artwork and select the one piece they are most proud of to display at the FVE Student Art Show at the Fraser Valley Public Library, exact dates to be determined.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
