Our 2021 Anthony "Tar Tar" Ucci Award winners:
Jack McMullen
Jack was a 4 sport 12 season varsity athlete. After a successful freshman year as a varsity shortstop for the baseball team he joined the golf team as a sophomore. That year he was a member of the state runner up golf team at EGHS. As a senior he was able to participate in both sports. He was a valuable pitcher and shortstop for the baseball team, while also being part of a state runner up golf team again. Jack also placed 3rd individually in the state as a senior. On the football field Jack garnered multiple All Division and All State honors while a member of teams that twice played for the state title. Basketball was his most accomplished sport. He was a senior captain who again garnered multiple All division and All state honors throughout his time on the court. He scored over 1,000 career points and holds the school record for points scored in a game with 54. He also holds the state record for three pointers in a game with 13. Besides the individual honors, he was a member of one state championship basketball team and two of his teams won the sportsmanship award. Jack was truly a tremendous all around student athlete excelling on the field and the classroom earning All Academic Team honors in basketball as well. Next year Jack will be attending Marianapolis Prep School where he will play basketball and golf for the Golden Knights.
Logan Shunney
Logan was a three sport standout for the Avengers. She is a well respected, tremendous leader. She captained the field hockey, indoor track , and lacrosse teams. Logan ran distance events for the Avengers track teams. She was a member of the 2018-2019 Class and Division Championship team. She was most successful in the 1500m event. That year she finished in the top 10 in that race in her class meet and as a senior finished 12th in the medium sized school state meet. As a leader of the lacrosse team in the spring she garnered All Division honors for the Avengers.
Field Hockey is where Logan was at her best. During a tremendous junior year she was named honorable mention all state and the team won the state championship. She only improved as a senior captain. The team won their second straight state championship and Logan was named to the all division, all state, and all tournament teams. Next year Logan will be playing field hockey and majoring in Physical Therapy at American International College.
