Division Review

Use these videos to review the basics of the standard algorithm for division, also known as long division. Students must know this prior skill because this unit focuses on division with 2-digit divisors.

Lesson 1: Use Patterns and Mental Math to Divide

In this lesson we used place-value patterns and mental math to find quotients. Students should use Reflex to practice their multiplication and division facts. Basic facts up to 10x10 should be memorized.

In this lesson we used compatible numbers (numbers close to the original values that match recognizable facts) and place-value patterns to estimate quotients.

In this lesson we used models to assist us in understanding how division works.

Note: Most students at this point used their knowledge of long division, also known as the standard algorithm for division, to solve.

Lesson 4: Use Partial Quotients to Divide

In this lesson we solved division problems using partial quotients.

Note: Most students will continue using the standard algorithm.
