Beginning and Intermediate Band
Beginning Band is for students with no previous experience on their chosen instrument.
Both 5Th grade students and 6Th grade students can sign up for beginning band lessons.
Schedule permitting, 6Th grade beginning students are placed in a separate class with the goal of joining intermediate band at some point in the school year. It can also be useful for 6Th grade students who did band in 5Th grade but might need review.Â
All beginning students are asked to make a 1st and 2nd choice of instrument to allow for well balanced classes and ensembles.
Intermediate Band is for students have have had at least one year of experience on their instrument.
Reading music notation is essential to participate in intermediate band lessons. Articulation, tone, and other elements can be improved with time whereas reading notation is essential with multiple instruments in the room.
All placements are subject to instructor approval.
