Lessons are once a week for 45 minutes on a specific day and time.
Students will need to know their lesson day and time and be responsible for bringing their instrument and other materials on those days.
Students must also complete practice logs that will be collected monthly. It is recommemded that students practice for around 20 minutes at least four to five days each week.
Group lessons require all students to make regular progress and thus allow the class to move forward together. In other words, the "train" will leave the station and it's destination is the concert. All students need to still be on that train when it reaches it's destination.
Students will learn how to assemble, handle, and care for their instrument as well as how to play it properly.
Reading music notation is a primary goal as well as expressing musical elements like rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics, and articulation.
Students will also learn how to play as part of a large ensemble and follow standard performance directions and conducting.
Students may also challenge themselves to try material outside of the regular band method book and volunteer to perform a solo in the Winter or Spring Concerts.
