Patagonia

Journey to the center of the crater of Volcán Chaitén, a local guide told us he had reached the top of the cone, that he had marked it, forecasted just a couple of hours. It took us more than three days, using machetes and sleeping on the slopes, to wake up with leaches all over. We finally reached the summit at night, Clem our New Zealander mate wanted to continue and started climbing down but we managed to convince him to wait till daylight, we would've died trying to climb down those cliffs seen in the foreground.

We spent one night and one day inside the dormant crater, no one had ever been inside this wonder. The volcano erupted in 2008 so all this simply disappeared.

Exploring Chile Chico

Lago General Carrera, trekking through the snow in on foot on the southern coast of the Lake, 140K journey with a load of gear on my back, had to vivac a couple of times, woke up covered by ice, it's a miracle I'm still alive, more lives than a cat.

Mount Darwin (Spanish: Monte Darwin) is a peak in Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego forming part of the Cordillera Darwin, the southernmost range of the Andes, just to the north of the Beagle Channel.

Mount Darwin was given its name during the voyage of the Beagle by HMS Beagle's captain Robert FitzRoy to celebrate Charles Darwin's 25th birthday on 12 February 1834. A year earlier FitzRoy had named an expanse of water to the southwest of the mountain the Darwin Sound to commemorate Darwin's quick wit and courage in saving them from being marooned when waves from a mass of ice splitting off a glacier threatened their boats.

The mountain is part of Alberto de Agostini National Park. It is formed of crystalline schists and has massive glaciers down its steep southern slopes.
