Home Economics

Outcomes:
Learning basic contents of home economics
Learn some basic Finnish in real-life situations (i.e. grocery shopping, reading recipes)
Getting to know Finnish culture and cuisine and having fun
In this elective, we go through the basic contents of home economics in Finnish. You can learn Finnish naturally while interacting with others when cooking, cleaning and baking. The Home Economics elective will strengthen students' consumer skills and deepen the perception of sustainable choices in everyday life.
Music
Outcomes:
Learn to play and sing in a band
Learn to sing and play cover songs
Learn to write your own songs
In this elective you can choose what sort of music you would like to make. We can write your own songs, record with professional equipment and even make a video to go with it.
You might want to make a rap or electronic music, or simply a ballad with voice, piano and / or ukulele, or just play in a band. Bring your ideas and we can help make it a reality!
PE

Students will be involved in various physical games and activities. Discover the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle through familiar and new physical games & activities.
Art
Sculpting, Building and Architecture
Outcomes:
Expand knowledge of various artistic mediums
Develop visual and spatial thinking and problem solving skills
Learn to communicate and express yourself in three dimensional visual form
Students learn to sketch, design and execute three-dimensional art works, objects and architectural scale models. Various artistic mediums are used in different stages of the process, such as drawing, painting, building and sculpting. Each medium is approached from an environmental perspective to help the students learn sustainable and sensible ways to use materials and care for tools.
Projects can be focused on architecture, product design, jewelry design, art history and contemporary art.
Crafts
Outcomes:
Develop students basic crafts skills and knowledge of different materials
Promote student well-being and self-confidence
Understanding sustainable values and incorporating and maintaining it in everyday life
In this elective students will get a chance to try out their creativity in a practical way. We will use different materials and techniques to make unique pieces of functional work.
