Choose 2 electives from the OTHER ELECTIVES group (OE) below. One will be studied in the autumn and the other in the spring term.
Other electives are assessed Pass / Fail.
Students who study Spanish, French or German do not have other electives. Students who study A2 Swedish will choose two electives. A2 Swedish does not count in the elective subjects quota. A2 languages are assessed with a number grade.

Beginning Drama
Outcomes:
Have fun doing activities with your peers.
Practice becoming a character and memorizing lines.
Speak and move to express personality and emotion
During our drama lessons we will do many activities to practice getting into character, using a script, improvising scenes (working without a script) and have an all around silly, fun time. At the end of the class we will put on a performance for the 2nd graders.
Escape Room
Outcomes:
Get familiar with Escape room game ideology
Create your own escape room game experience
Have the opportunity to play the games created by others
Are you good at solving puzzles and riddles? Do you like to make up some on your own? In Escape room elective you'll have an opportunity to use your creativity and imagination to be the master mind of the game. Use your own story or borrow a plot from your favorite movie or movies and make your friends escape from the scenario created by you!
Introduction to Philosophy
Outcomes:
Critical thinking and learning to learn

Introduction to Philosophical ideas from ancient times to modern.
What is the meaning of life? Is life real? Am I in the matrix? Is it a rabbit? Or is it duck? On second thought, is it that seagull that ate my ice cream? These are some of the questions that will arise in Introduction to Philosophy. This elective will open your mind to new ideas and ways of thinking. We will explore how humans viewed the world and tried to figure out what it is all about. Is it "turtles all the way down"? You will have to sign up to find out!
Art
Drawing and Painting
Outcomes:
Expand knowledge of various two dimensional artistic mediums
Learn to communicate and express yourself in visual form
Develop visual thinking, problem solving skills, dexterity and perseverance.
Students will practice different drawing and painting techniques in an encouraging, relaxed environment. Techniques might include watercolour, acrylic paints, gouache, charcoal, ink, oil pastels, soft pastels or markers. Each medium is approached from an environmental perspective to help the students learn sustainable and sensible ways to use materials and care for tools.
Alongside learning the practical artistic skills students will also develop their individual artistic expression.
Topics of projects take inspiration from art history, contemporary art, visual culture in our society, or they could be initiated by the students themselves.
Robotics & Coding
Outcomes:
Understand "What is a Robot & components of Robotics?"
Understand Electricity and Electronics.
Developing team building skills
Robotics is a growing field in our world that is constantly changing and advancing in technology.
You will have the opportunity to build and program your own robot through various obstacles and challenges presented throughout the class.
For this course, students will be programming and building the Lego Mindstorms Robot. Students will be using it to learn to program robots, create their projects, and share their creations.
You would also develope your team working skills which would be quite useful later in your working life.
We would use Chromebooks and Mindstorm application to write the program and pseudocode. We would start with Visual coding; once you have grasped the basics of programming, we would move on to Text programming.

The elective is called 'AI & Our Future' that focuses on digital literacy rather than coding. Most students use AI every day, but they don't always understand how it impacts their privacy, their social lives, or their future jobs. This course is designed for everyone. It explores the big wins and the real risks of AI in a way that helps students become responsible, informed citizens.
It requires zero prior tech knowledge and fits perfectly into the goal of preparing students for the modern world.
