About Project

The Community History Postcard Project is an oral history project cultivating intergenerational connections, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting gratitude and belonging in our communities.

The collaborative endeavor, headed by K-12 Asian American educators Virginia Nguyen and Stacy Yung of Educate to Empower alongside artist and Asian American studies educator Katie Quan of REALSOUL, reflects a shared commitment to celebrate and document our collective histories.

Project Leaders

Educate to Empower

Stacy Yung and Virginia Nguyen are history teachers with over 30 years of combined teaching experience. They are leaders in diversity, equity, inclusion, and allyship in Southern California and have trained 1000s of educators. In response to the March 2021 murder of six Asian women, and the increased awareness of anti-Asian hate, they created Educate to Empower. Together they are creating and curating resources and hosting workshops for educators on topics of DEI and AAPI. They believe that educators committed to antiracism can and change the world. REALSOUL

REALSOUL is a curriculum-based arts organization, founded in San Francisco. We develop creative offerings for K-12 that shed light on the intersectional stories of Asian America and other BIPOC communities. REALSOUL believes learning doesn’t stop in the classrooms, but continues in workplaces, living rooms, around campfires, and beyond. Learn more at https://realsoul.us
