Our Goals

• Intergenerational Connections: The project aims to bridge the generation gap by providing opportunities for meaningful conversations and exchanges between older and younger members of our local AANHPI community.

• Preserve Cultural Heritage: By featuring Asian American landmarks and cultural references on the postcards, the project helps preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage and history of our homes.

• Promote Gratitude and Connection: Participants will express their appreciation and gratitude through handwritten thank-you notes, promoting emotional connection and appreciation within the community. 

Engage with the Project

1. Choose a Postcard: Select an image or topic that resonates with you.

2. Find a Buddy: Choose someone from a different generation.

3. Schedule a Time to Talk: To make sure you have time to get deep, we recommend 30-60min.

4. Engage with the Postcard: Observe and talk more about your thoughts and questions together.

5. Deepen the Conversation: Use our prompts to explore deeper connections 

6. Exchange Addresses: Share mailing addresses for the next step.

7. Write your Thank You!: Within a week, send a postcard expressing thanks for your talk.

8. Mail and Receive: Drop your postcards in the mailbox and think of your postcard as a shared experience.

9. Share Your Experience: Post your postcards on social media with the tags #CommunityHistory #AAPI #postcardproject to share with the wider community
