Process diagrams use a variety of different types of graphics wherein something is going on. Despite this variety, there are certain lexical items the candidate should have as part of their toolkit as they describe all processes. Be familiar with terms such as man-made v. natural, and linear v cyclical. Know the differences between step, stage, and phase.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Questions to think about:
What adjectives can you use to describe these processes in your overview?
What do the two processes have in common?
How are they different and what comparisons can you make?
What information is irrelevant and can be left out?
Remember in Task one you need to summarize, select the main features, report the main features and make comparisons.
The diagrams below show the life cycle of a species of large fish called the salmon. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant
Several of these process diagrams are discussed in Part 2 of a 3-part series from 2019 on how to craft the best overview.
