A Touch of Understanding 

Type of Internship: Unpaid Internship, part-time
Internship Description: Are you looking for ways that you can truly make a difference in children’s lives? We are looking for those interested in spreading the message of inclusion and who want to be a part of the ATOU Family, either as a speaker or to support our team with our workshop activity stations. Activity Instructors: Volunteers assist students with program activities. ATOU volunteers interact with students and guide them through activities at each station. Many help with loading and set-up of presentation equipment.  Program Speakers: Individuals with disabilities share their personal stories and answer students’ questions. Speakers introduce new perspectives and provide insight through their honest stories and willingness to engage. High school and College students may earn community service hours by volunteering with ATOU.
Requirements: Currently ATOU has volunteers from 9 years old to 85 years old. Anyone under 16 is asked to be accompanied by an adult. Fingerprinting is required for each

Bohemian Bela Creative Co.

El Dorado County Youth Commission

Type of Volunteer Opportunity:  Unpaid, Part-time (twice per month September - May)
Job Description: The Youth Commission is supported by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors (BOS) and El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE). Appointed student Commissioners are empowered to gather and express the opinions, ideas, and visions of our county’s youth, while gaining valuable leadership skills and knowledge about our county and local government.    
Age Requirement: Grades 9-12 may apply. Must be at least 13 years old.

El Dorado County Mineral and Gem Society

Type of Internship: Part-time, Seasonal (details will be provided), Unpaid
Internship Description: Lapidary artists and rock collectors wanted! Our internship program includes a one-year family membership as well as a chance to collect rocks and learn how to turn them into objects of art. The commitment is 3 days of training during winter break, and 2 hours each month of the spring semester (after school). All of this, including all the additional Society activities are free with your active participation. This is a great way to earn a college scholarship from our society (even if you do not major in geology). We have many volunteer opportunities available to help set-up, work in the kids activities, and clean-up after our Annual Rock and Gem Show. The Show is held the second weekend in April. All adults and teens can volunteer (and get in free!). Please contact us using our website in February or March.

El Dorado County District Attorney

Type of Internship: Unpaid, part-time, full-time, and seasonal  internships available
Internship Description:  We offer all types of internships! The minimum hourly requirement for high school students is eight hours per week for six months. Here you will assist the District Attorney's Office with scanning, file and trial prep, and other additional projects as needed. You will also have the opportunity to meet and speak with investigators, prosecutors, paralegals, and victim advocates to get a feel for what you find most interesting working in Law Enforcement.
Age Requirement: Must be at least 15 years of age with reliable transportation. Must also be able to pass a background check.
