Term 4 Week 10-11
Week 10-11
Well, we've made it to the end of the year! It's hard to believe that the 2025 teaching year is over. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch our lovely Year 2's grow and develop this year, they are a delightful cohort of students.
Over the last two weeks we have been reflecting on the year's learning, consolidating our skills across the curriculum. In Literacy, learners have been applying skills from multiple genres to demonstrate their comprehension and understanding of texts and using these to create narratives. In Numeracy we have revisited many concepts from the year, ensuring that learners fee confident in using these strategies to solve maths problems.
Well done to our Year 2 students on a fabulous 2025 and we wish them all the best for their grade 3 year!

The classroom doors open at 8:50am, giving your child time to settle before learning begins at 9am. If they arrive after 9am, they must go through the main office to sign in before heading to class.
HOME LEARNING
The purpose of Home Learning is to support and reinforce what your child is learning in the classroom. We understand that families have different schedules and commitments outside of school hours so we aim to be flexible and supportive. It's important to acknowledge and celebrate the effort and progress your child makes when completing their home learning tasks, rather than focusing on any unfinished work. Just like with our SWPBS expectations, without recognition and encouragement students are less likely to engage with the tasks. Classroom teachers have now set up home learning and login details have been provided to students.
Home Readers:
Establishing strong reading habits at home is one of the most powerful ways to support your child's learning. Research shows that regular reading at home significantly improves students’ academic success across all areas. To support this, each student is expected to read their Home Reader every night and complete their Kluwell Reading Journal to record their reading. These journals are checked by classroom teachers on their designated Reader Day, which has been agreed upon with your child.
Please ensure your child brings their Home Reader and journal to school on this day. Your ongoing support makes a real difference in building confident, capable readers

Term 4 Week 1,2, 3
Welcome back to Term 4!
We have had an action packed first few weeks of school, with so much engaging learning going on. This term in Literacy, students have been learning about persuasive techniques such as modal words, emotive language, and using evidence to back up their opinions. They have explored how authors and advertisers use these techniques to influence their audience and have enjoyed analysing visual advertisements to see how images and slogans persuade us to buy certain products.
In Numeracy, students have been working on identifying and continuing number patterns that increase and decrease, as well as developing strategies to solve multiplication and division problems. They have also been learning about movement and direction, focusing on quarter, half, and three-quarter turns on a clock, and exploring how these can be made in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions.
In CBL we have been investigating personal connections by identifying who is part of our own family and understanding the similarities and differences between different households. We are excited to enhance our learning when we go on our excursion to the Bundoora Heritage Village on Wednesday 5th November (2E, 2C, 2D) and Monday 10th November (2F, 2A, 2B).
We are also excited to have the School Fun Run on Friday 14th November. Well done to those learners who have set up their profile online already to begin fundraising! Please speak to your child's classroom teacher for more information on this.
On Wednesday 26th November, we also have our P-2 School Concert 'We are from Aitken Creek.' Classes have begun practising their dances and are looking amazing so far! Please keep an eye out on Compass for more information on this as it comes out.

Term 3 Week 8-9
Goodbye Term 3!
This term was short, but the Year 2 students have done a lot of learning. In writing, we became authors by creating and illustrating our own narratives, just like real writers. We included interesting beginnings and included problems and solutions in our stories.
In Numeracy, we learned about fractions of turns, worked on different number patterns and practised finding the missing parts of those patterns.
In CBL, we explored digital systems and discovered how they are created and how people use them in everyday life. Using our narratives we created a part of our narratives using a digital system like iMovie and Scratch Jnr, it was so much fun sharing our narratives digitally!
We are very proud of the effort and progress we have made. The Year 2 students have shown creativity, persistence and teamwork in their learning. It has been wonderful to see the Year 2's grow in confidence, share their ideas and try new things in all areas of their learning.
It has been a busy term and now we are ready for a well-earned break to rest and recharge. We are looking forward to coming back refreshed and ready for our very last term of Year 2, with even more learning, growth and fun ahead!

Lot's of Growth
We can hardly believe we are already nearing the end of term with only a few weeks to go! The Year 2s have been busy finishing their units on author study in Literacy and patterns and shapes in Numeracy. Over the past few weeks, we have been revisiting and applying the skills we've learned in new contexts and it has been wonderful to see so much growth and learning taking place.
The Year 2's have been learning so much about digital technologies as well. We have been exploring different ways to communicate using a range of digital tools. We've had lots of opportunities to experiment and practise and we are now beginning to apply these skills within our own designs. It has been exciting to see everyone's creativity and confidence grow using technology to share ideas.

Term 3 Week 4-5
Half Way There!
We are now halfway through Term 3 and we have been learning so many fun things! In Literacy we finished learning about poetry. We wrote our own poems and shared them with our friends. Now we are learning about authors like Dr Seuss and Aaron Blabey. Their books are really funny and we laugh a lot when we read them.
In Numeracy we have been learning about fractions. We learned that when we cut things into equal parts it makes a whole. We compared halves, quarters and eighths and used pictures and objects to help us. It has been a bit tricky but also we are building our knowledge which we are proud of.
In CBL we have been using digital technology. We explored how systems work and we tried out some coding games. We like using iPads to solve problems and work together in groups.
We are proud of all the things we have learned so far in Term 3. We can’t wait to learn even more in the next few weeks and continue to share it with everyone.

As part of our Inquiry unit, we are also exploring a range of digital technologies and applying our learning in creative and meaningful ways.
We're looking forward to a great term of growth, curiosity and fun!
Reminders:
IPADS
iPads are used in conjunction with students learning across various learning areas. There is still a significant number of students who are not bringing their iPads or are not charging them. Please remind your child that they need to bring their iPads fully charged each day.
SCHOOL ARRIVAL
Punctuality is important for your child’s education. Arriving on time helps them start the day positively and avoid missing important lessons.

Term 2 Week 10,11
Wrapping Up Term 2!
We’ve had such a busy and exciting Term 2 in Year 2! Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working really hard to reflect on our learning and getting ready for our Three Way Conferences. We looked back at our goals, chose work we’re proud of and practised how to share our learning with our families. The Year 2s have shown so much pride in what they’ve achieved — we can’t wait for our grown-ups to hear all about it!
To finish off the term, we had an amazing time at the Science Dome incursion. It was such a fun way to explore more about space, planets and the Moon — it even felt like we were actually flying through the galaxy! This was a great way to wrap up our Earth and Space learning.
We’ve all worked so hard this term and are definitely ready for a well-earned break. The Year 2s are looking forward to two weeks of relaxing, recharging and having fun before we jump into Term 3!

Over the past few weeks, we have been really enjoying our learning in Year 2! We’ve had fun sharing our ideas in writing and showing what we know. We’ve especially loved learning new things and talking about what we’re good at. Some of the learning has been a bit tricky, but we’ve worked hard, helped each other and kept trying. It feels good when we don’t give up and see how much we’ve improved. We’ve also been working on our class goals and learning how to be kind, respectful and to listen to others. We feel proud of what we’ve achieved and excited to keep learning more!

Term 2 Week 5-6
We are officially halfway through the term! Well done to all of the Year 2 students who have been showing an amazing effort in their learning journey. Over the past week, students have begun engaging in a range of formative and summative learning tasks to show what they know and can do. These tasks will continue over the next few weeks and help teachers pinpoint what students have achieved so far, while also identifying any areas that may need additional support. Students have been trying their best and we are working closely with them to guide their learning and provide extra help where needed.

Term 1 Week 6-7
We’ve reached the halfway point of Term 1—time has flown by! We’re continuing to work on developing our personal and social skills, with a focus on SWPBS and CWPBS. It’s wonderful to see everyone making progress by consistently practicing our school and classroom expectations. We’ve also learned so much about each other’s cultures and identities and it’s fantastic to witness such a strong celebration of multiculturalism within our community.
Here are some reminders to be mindful of:
HATS
Here at ACPS, we are a SunSmart school and require all students in Term 1 and Term 4 to wear a hat for outside play. Please ensure your child has a hat with their name on it in their bag, as per our ‘No Hat No Play’ policy.
IPADS
Most of our Year 2 cohort have now returned their Digital Learning/BYO iPad Acceptable Use Agreement. If your child has not yet returned this document, please prioritise this as it is important for their learning. We’ve noticed that some students are remembering to bring their iPads to school, though there are still a significant number who are not bringing them regularly. Please remind your child that they need to bring their iPads fully charged each day.
SCHOOL ARRIVAL
Punctuality is important for your child’s education. Arriving on time helps them start the day positively and avoid missing important lessons.
Home Learning Expectations:
10 minutes of Reading from their Home Reader books and logged in the Kluwell Reading Journal
10 minutes on Reading Eggs
10 minutes on Mathletics
LIBRARY
Library borrowing has begun and students have all had the opportunity to explore the library and borrow a range of books to read. Students have also begun borrowing take home reading books and should be completing 20 minutes of reading each night. Students attend the library once per fortnight to return and borrow new books, please ask your child’s teacher for their class library timetable and remind your child to return library books on the correct date.
ATTENDANCE
If your child is absent please ensure that you notify the school. This can be done through Compass, calling the office or sending a note with your child on their return to school. If you do not have access to Compass please contact the office and they can provide you with your login details. If your child has brought home a note with absent days, please fill it in and return it to school as soon as possible. If you are unsure which days your child was absent without a note on Compass, please reach out to your child’s teacher and they can let you know.
CANTEEN
Our canteen is operational daily with a range of warm meals for lunch time and yummy treats for snack break. Please find attached the link to the canteen menu.

Term 1 Week 4-5
We’ve had an exciting start to the year in Year 2, with students diving into their academic learning while having lots of fun along the way. Over the past two weeks, they’ve been developing a variety of skills across different subjects and it’s been wonderful to see their growth. We encourage you to check out the ‘Term 1’ tab on the blog, where you can explore detailed examples of their learning, including photos and descriptions that showcase their hard work and progress. It’s a great way to stay connected with what your child is experiencing in the classroom!
