Essential Assessment - At PHPS, Essential Assessment is one of the main tools used for assessment. Pre-tests and post-tests are used to diagnose areas of need, measure growth after learning and support student development in a highly personalised way. It is important that students complete pre- and post-tests unaided so that we are able to see exactly what they do and don't understand.

My Numeracy - In Essential Assement, students are able to complete their My Numeracy™ activities which have been set up based upon the concepts that have been misunderstood in their pretest.

Sunset Maths - Also in Essential Assessment, Sunset Maths is an application aimed at developing the student’s mental maths skills. This is available through the games icon and sets up based upon the student’s pretest results. The student will work through curriculum aligned content to develop their knowledge in each operation.
