I intend to create a mixed media film that critiques the idea of life having an inherent purpose, and instead puts
forward the idea that life is what you make of it, which will differ for different people.
I’m going to make the film by green screening live actors, creating 3d backgrounds in blender, drawing 2D
animated characters in Clip studio paint, editing in adobe premiere pro, compositing in after effects, and
editing/composing audio in adobe audition and audacity. The only equipment I’ll be using is a green screen,
camera, tripods, lights and microphones borrowed from the school.
The message my film will put forward is one of hope disguised by a generally lighthearted and goofy tone. The
characters will undertake a journey that is inherently meaningless, but will make meaning of their own through it.
I want the film to read as something charming and personal to me, with undertones of existentialism that come
with the lived experiences of being queer and neurodiverse – which should be relatable to my target audience. I
want the riduclousness to not serve as just humour to fill the time – but to actively reflect how the characters feel
about the world they live in and how it functions – and to encourage the audience to question these things too in
a way that is hopefully applicable to real life.
I want my audience to see my work and feel amused but also seen – seen for the struggles that many young
adults face when moving into adult life and trying to figure out what they could possibly do to fulfill themselves.
