Welcome to the Grade 2 Home Learning section.
Below is the outline of what we will be covering this week, as well as a link to the Department of Education's Home Learning Site.

READ, READ, READ, READ
It is important for students to read for at least 20 minutes per day.
Please record book titles in their reading log.
Students can read a variety of texts - books, magazines, Sunshine Classics, recipes, Herald Sun Kids, etc...
SUGGESTED REMOTE LEARNING SCHEDULE FOR READING
Reading - 45 minutes per day
20 minutes - independent or shared reading
25 minutes - Complete tasks as set by your class teachers.

WRITE, WRITE, WRITE, WRITE
45 minutes of writing
15 minutes of spelling related activities - see Spelling site or your home learning folder
30 minutes of writing, including time to revise and edit - See Writing site for ideas or write about the book you have read.
WRITING PROMPTS
Lost for ideas? Need something to get your brain started? Try one of the ideas below:
a personal experience - holiday, embarrassing moment, happiest day, zoo visit, favourite movie, best playground, a time your hurt yourself etc...
a book you have read
find a photo online and write about what could have happened
write a fractured fairy tale - read a fairy tale and change the story and characters
write a story
write a recipe
write a letter or email to a friend
write a postcard about a place you have been to
Websites with writing ideas
NUMERACY
It is an expectation that students complete 1 hour of Numeracy per day
5-10 minutes of Number activities that could include counting, place value games, or thinking about number patterns.
40-50 activities as assigned by your teacher or activities online from Essential Assessment or Prodigy
