I am learning to:
recognise 2D shapes
identify and describe the key features of many two-dimensional shapes
understand that objects can be moved, but changing position does not alter an object’s size or features.
I can:
recognise that 2D shapes are flat
understand that 2D shapes must be closed to be a 2D shape (Their corners must meet precisely)
name 2D shapes
recognise that 2D shapes have:
straight lines, curved lines, edges and corners or vertices
turn, flip and slide shapes
draw shapes that I have turned, flipped and slid.
Watch the 'Warm up' Video of Ms Exner and Mrs Barrett skip counting. Can you count along with them.
As a ‘Super Challenge’ choose a number and write down what one more, one less, ten more and ten less would be.
Go through the 'Name the 2D' , Who am I ? PowerPoint.
Can you guess them correctly?
Watch Ms Exner and Mrs Barrett design their dream cubby house
Create and draw your own cubby house.
Watch the 'Warm Up' video with Ms Exner.
Watch Ms Exner flip, slide and turn different 2D Shapes.
Watch Ms Exner's explanation video and complete the activity.
Don't forget to use the language ‘flip, slide and turn’.
Watch the 'Warm Up' video with Ms Exner and Mrs Barrett skip counting. Can you count along with them.
As a ‘Super Challenge’ choose a number and write down what one more, one less, ten more and ten less would be.
Watch Ms Exner and Mrs Barrett turn a variety of 2D shapes.
You will need to flip the shape either a quarter, half, three quarter or a full turn clockwise. You may wish to watch this video more than once to remind yourself which way is clockwise.
After watching the explanation video complete the activity.
Play 2D Shape Eye Spy with someone in your family. You might even wish to call a friend from your class to play with them. Use your knowledge that you have already learnt about describing the features of 2D Shapes.
Enjoy a game of connect 4 with a member of your family.
