Educational Assessment

We often receive requests from families regarding Educational Assessments to investigate whether a student may receive a diagnosis of:

ASD

ADHD

Intellectual Disability

Specific Learning Disorders such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia etc

Schools can refer students for assessments to help them find out if a student is eligible to apply for support under the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD).

The assessment categories are:

Assessments Australia is contracted to conduct these assessments.

As you can see not all disabilities can be assessed via Assessments Australia, so below are some other options for families to explore if wanting an assessment for ASD, ADHD or a Specific Learning Disorder.

Please let your young person's Mentor Teacher know if you are exploring a formal diagnosis as the school may be able to provide information that will support this process.

It is also important to speak with your GP to access an appropriate referral to a service that will be able to assist you.

Please remember, all services will have an extensive waitlist. Don't let this put you off. You can refer to multiple services.

University Run Clinics

These are a cost effective way of accessing assessments. The clinics are staffed by postgraduate interns who are undertaking a postgraduate qualification in psychology. All clinic services are overseen by registered psychologists who are skilled clinicians and supervisors.

The cost of all testing is capped at a low-cost.
