What is Self Care?

In short, self care is all about demonstrating love and appreciation for yourself.

Burnout is coming at us from all sides: our personal and professional lives have been thrown into chaos. It’s easy to try to make sense of the chaos by losing ourselves in the work of caring for others, whether it’s on the job or at home. However, losing ourselves in the needs of others means that we often forget our own needs.

Some advocates of self-care, will recommend a variety of indulgent, comforting activities—a massage, a day at the spa, a trip out of town—as a cure. These are great, but there are other ways to take care of ourselves that are often more accessible and can form a part of your daily life. So instead of thinking massages and manicures, when thinking about what self care looks like for you consider:

What can bring about improved health?

What do I enjoy doing?
