Anaphylaxis is a severe, rapidly progressive allergic reaction that is potentially life threatening.
Abbotsford Primary School currently has five students.
Volunteers should avoid bringing in food into the classroom or offering food items to students as rewards.
Consistent attendance allows the presence of volunteers to be predictable and ensures that the needs of the school are met. Regular attendance also helps volunteers to build a relationship with the class(es) they work with and enjoy a more fulfilling experience.
Abbotsford Primary School understands that there are times when volunteers need to be absent for the time rostered. Volunteers are expected to contact the relevant teacher-in-charge in advance to inform them of their absence.

Abbotsford Primary School (APS) has a zero tolerance approach to child abuse. This covers all who work at APS and have contact with the students at the school. Any abuse directed towards any child will be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities and dealt with accordingly.
Volunteers must ensure that they have read and are familiar with:
Any person, including volunteers, is able to make a report to Child Protection if they believe that a child or young person is at risk of significant harm and in need of protection.
Volunteers are encouraged to discuss any concerns about the safety and wellbeing of students with their teacher-in-charge, the Principal or a member of the Leadership Team.
Volunteers are expected to maintain the highest level of professional conduct at all times. Volunteers are reminded that by being involved in the school community, the behaviours and conduct of volunteers will inevitably reflect on the school's reputation and its culture.
During your time at Abbotsford Primary School as a volunteer, you may come across or be asked to record data and information about the school, staff and/or individual children that must be treated with the strictest confidence.
These include but are not limited:
Students' classwork and homework (whether or not on display)
Students' assessment tasks and performance data
Administrative paperwork of all kinds
Formal and informal notes or comments from staff around individual children's wellbeing
Curriculum documentation
This requirement is to ensure that the privacy of all individuals in the school are protected and that as a school community, we comply to the relevant school policies around access to information.
If your role involves working with students, we would also ask that all volunteers to avoid commenting on students' learning or wellbeing outside of the school context, and with anyone who is not considered staff. It would be inappropriate for this information to be used in any way other than for the purposes determined by the teacher.
As part of the school's policy around communication with parents, abiding by the above ensures that all communication between the school and parents remain the responsibility of the school staff and parents only. The communication should also be conducted via official channels and by relevant and authorised personnel only.
The 2025 Curriculum Days are:
