Participation in Tempe High School Music Ensembles is required for students hiring instruments.
Instruments are available for yearly or half yearly hire.
Hire cost is determined based on the instrument as some instruments are more expensive than others. After filling out the form we will then be able to provide you with a quote on the overall cost.

Students may keep instruments at home during school holidays within the hire period.
Students may wish to return the instrument at the end of the hire period, or continue hiring the same instrument.
Instruments can be distributed for hire at any time during the year.
Instruments available to hire depend on current availability and condition of instruments.
Instruments may be hired via the CARL program in partnership with the school. (Parents will need to collect the instrument from the CARL office or cover the cost of courier).

+ Servicing fee's
Instruments will be issued with accessories essential to the operation of each instrument eg. mouthpiece, ligature, cleaning cloth (Brass/Woodwind instruments); bow, chin rest (String instruments). These accessories must be returned at the end of the hiring period. For hygiene reasons, please supply a new cleaning cloth (available at music shops eg. Sax and Woodwind or The Music Place) when returning instruments.
Students and parents are responsible for the provision of consumable items such as reeds, cork grease, valves and strings.
Instruments should always be cleaned and stored in their case after use.
Instruments should always be transported in their case.
Please do not leave instruments in cars.
On band days, students may leave their instruments in the C Block store room during the school day. Please then collect your instrument at the end of the day.
The instrument, case and accessories are the responsibility of the student and parent.
Parents are encouraged to include the instrument on Home and Contents Insurance, or take out special Music Instrument Insurance.
Students are encouraged to treat the instrument as their own, and should protect them as their own valuable asset.
Instruments and cases should be kept away from young children, pets and pet hair.
Please avoid leaving instruments in warm rooms or direct sunlight.
Instruments should always be properly cleaned and stored in cases after playing.
Parts must not be swapped between instruments.
Students should attach a label to the instrument case with their name and contact details.
Broken cases (hinges, locks, zippers, wheels) should be replaced or fixed immediately.
Parents and students are responsible for ensuring that the instrument is well maintained during the loan.

Maintenance and repairs due to normal wear and tear of the instrument are covered within the hiring cost. Parents are responsible for the cost of any repairs due to misuse or the instrument being dropped.
All instruments should be serviced prior to being returned at the end of the hire period. This cost is to be covered by the hirer. Mr Chapman can recommend where to have this done.
If an instrument is damaged beyond repair, the parent is responsible for the replacement cost of the instrument.
Parents, please do not arrange the replacement of resources (mouthpieces, bows etc) if this is necessary during the hire period or when returning the instrument – instead please contact Mr Chapman and we will be able to organise replacement for you.
Please notify the school immediately if your instrument is lost or stolen.
If it is necessary to replace an instrument, we will arrange this and an account will be forwarded to the parent to cover the replacement cost.
