Rhythm and rhyme are valuable tools for learning concepts, especially in literacy. You'd be amazed at the number of ways musical skills can help build skills and knowledge in other areas. K-1-2 have a lot of fun learning through music and chants with clap sticks.

Last Tuesday, we went to Scotty's Cinema in Raymond Terrace, to watch our film, The Yarn, and other films done by other schools. Our film was second, and there were 18 films in total. The 18 films shown were chosen our of about 40 different films from lots of public schools around Port Stephens.

On Thursday 18th of September we went on a science excursion. We went ot Tomaree Mountain on a journey to look for evidence of coastal erosion. We observed things like this:
Landslides
Sand washing away
Exposed tree roots
My favourite thing was the amazing view at the summit.
Can you join all of these crosses with a single line? You may only touch each cross once and you must only travel vertically or horizontally (not diagonally).
Many words consist of an onset and rime.
What is onset-rime? The “onset” is the initial phonological unit (sound) of any word (e.g. /c/ in cat) and the term “rime” refers to the string of letters that follow, usually a vowel and final consonants (e.g. /a/ /t/ in cat).
Can you work out the onset and rime for each of these words?
