Polygons are closed shapes with straight sides, non-polygons have curved sides. 

Trick question - they are all trapeziums! A trapezium is a 4-sided flat shape (quadrilateral) with at least one pair of parallel opposite sides. 

Hyperbole - I've asked you a million times to please go and clean your room. (Hyperbole is a figure of speech that uses extreme, deliberate exaggeration to make a point, add humour, or evoke strong emotion. It is not meant to be taken literally.

Simile - The water is as smooth as glass today. A simile is when one thing is compared to another, using "like" or "as" to connect them.

Idiom - It's raining cats and dogs out there! An idiom is a phrase or expression where the figurative meaning differs entirely from the literal meaning of its individual words. They are a form of figurative language acting as cultural shorthand. Because idioms cannot be translated word-for-word, they must be learned as a whole to be understood. They are often relevant to particular cultures or places, such as the Australian idioms: "Flat out like a lizard drinking," or "It's in the middle of woop-woop."
