Subtraction using 'constant difference'.
eg 59 - 13 = 60 - 14
If we add one to both numbers, the difference remains the same.
What would you do to solve these problems using the 'constant difference' strategy?
1) 89 - 28 = ?
2) 123 - 87 = ?
3) 389 - 124 = ?

K-1-2 are often busy doing group activities. Here's just a small portion of what's been happening in the classroom.
The primary class attempted a 200 Word Challenge this week. They could select any topic of their choosing, but they had to try and write exactly 200 words, no more, no less.
Then they examined two different versions of a story with the same characters, events and plot but written with varying levels of vocabulary sophistication and figurative language devices such as similes. (Excerpts below...)
Version 1: As she chased the butterfly, the trees grew taller, and the sunlight dimmed.
Version 2: Suddenly, a dazzling butterfly, like a tiny flying jewel, caught her eye. Intrigued, Lily followed it deeper into the woods, her heart racing with excitement.
Can you rewrite this sentence to be more engaging for an audience? See if you can really help paint a picture in the reader's mind.
Version 1: Panic rose in her chest.
Version 2: ***Send us your entries via Facebook or email!
