GRIP Leadership stands for the values embodied by the organisation's mission: Generosity, Responsibility, Integrity and People. Each year, they hold several conferences around Australia, where student leaders gather with peers from around the region to learn how to lead in many different ways. Students learn to identify their own values and how to inspire others to be active participants in their schools and communities. Students and teachers come away with a vast range of activities and ideas they can try in their own settings, building on their confidence and influence others in a positive way.
Last Wednesday, Jackson and I went to GRIP Leadership (Ella). Miss Kish was really, really excited and I was half asleep and cold (Jackson). We met at Tomaree Pool at 7:30 and the bus ride went for 1 hour.
GRIP Leadership was held at Newcastle Town Hall. We learned how to be a good leader and how to do things that help the school. Things like being willing to do what the school needs.
There were 2 main breaks throughout the day, where we ate and played. They also did a thing called Loud Noises. In Loud Noises, we did fun activities like reverse charades, air guitar and guess the country.
We can’t wait to start working with other kids to use all the things we learned at GRIP Leadership.
