Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 dance
You will:
warm up with simple movement combinations
explore the basic elements of dance including actions of the body, dynamic qualities of movement, timing, spatial aspects and relationships
follow instructions to learn a new dance
perform the 'Howdy Partner' dance.
Howdy partner! We hope you are ready to dance.
You'll need:
a clear space to dance safely
a device to watch the video clips.
You might like to dress up in a simple cowboy or cowgirl costume, such as a neck scarf, hat, check shirt, or a pair of jeans.
How many of these movements can you do?
wave hello
say hello using other parts of your body
clap hands
clap someone else's hands (or slap knees and then clap hands)
dodge – rock from side to side (or rock head from side to side)
do-si-do – move around a partner in a circle (or move around in a circle or around a chair)
