Industrial Technology: Metal
Cost: $120 per year
Industrial Technology Metal is a practical based subject that provides opportunities for students to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to the metal and associated industries.
In Year 9 students will undertake the Industrial Technology: Metals course.
In Year 10: students will complete their Cert 1 in Manufacturing: Metals.
This is a great opportunity to help you get a head start on your Vocational Education and Training, achieving a national qualification while still at school.
Students will develop knowledge and skills in the use of hand tools, machines, materials and techniques related to general metalwork. These are enhanced and further developed through the study of specialist modules in Metal Machining and Fabrication.
Students will undertake a range of practical projects that will reflect the nature of the Metal focus area and provide opportunities for students to develop specific knowledge, understanding and skills associated with metal-related technologies. These may include:
fabricated metal projects
metal machining projects
sheet metal products
Students will learn about the relationship between the physical and mechanical properties of a range of relevant and associated materials and their functional applications.
Students will develop an understanding of careers associated with technology and learn skills relevant to work and leisure activities. Students will be provided with opportunities to learn about careers in a broad range of fields related to technology occupations and study issues related to work and employment. Students will be provided with opportunities to safely manage and produce projects, and to appreciate quality of work.
The application of design, planning, management and production processes can provide students with work-related skills including individual and collaborative work practices. Students are encouraged to develop initiative, and to become independent thinkers and confident communicators.
Industrial Technology Metal remains an excellent subject for anyone seeking skills for life and also considering a trade/certificate level course in any of the metal engineering and metal fabrication trades at TAFE.
