SOLDIER FLY COMPOSTING

Soldier flies are becoming more popular in composting as they are much quicker than worms to break down compost. The larvae can eat twice their own body weight every single day. They eat nearly any kind of organic waste ranging from animal waste to meat and plant based food scraps.  The larvae can serve as feed for fish, poultry and pigs, lizards and dogs (source Arc Entotech https://www.arcentotechltd.com.au/black-soldier-fly-larvae-product-page). Find out more about Soldier Flies here.

Soldier Flies need a specially designed compost - see video below (with Costa) for a cheap DIY project at your school.
