Many schools run their own RoboCup-style event either in preparation for RoboCup or after RoboCup.
Before RoboCup, it can be used to help teams prepare for the competition. If you have a lot of teams you may even use this event to weed out any teams that are not yet ready to compete.
After RoboCup, it can be used as a way to let teams have some fun without the pressure of competing against other schools. It is also a great way to introduce RoboCup to the rest of the school by inviting classes or students to drop in to view the competition. At my school, we hold our own RoboCup at the end of either Term 3 or Term 4. Some of the events we have held are:
Sumo Challenge (this is always very popular)
Line Rescue (Competition or demonstration, depending of how many teams)
OnStage (performance)
Soccer (demonstration)
Dash Robot Challenge (for younger students)
