draw a flower
add detail to our nature journal
I can draw details of flowers
I can add additional details and writing to my nature journal
Write the date on your nature journal page
Draw a rough map of the journey you took on your walk
Draw a sketch or take a photo of things you saw on your journey
You could include a sound map of sounds you hear: trickling water, screeching birds, croaking frogs, kids playing or insects calling
Add some colour to your drawings. Use watercolours or coloured pencils or make colour from rocks, leaves or petals that have fallen on your path. Use some soil. Try not to pick anything that is alive.
When look closely at a flower, a rock or a tree, you might wonder about them. Write down some 'I wonder...' statements on your journal page.
For example:
I wonder why is this shrub in the middle of the river?
I wonder why there is sticky stuff on the flower?
I wonder why the leaves have spikes on them?
Use your senses to observe nature. Write down some statements about what you can:
see
hear
smell
feel
Grevillia speciosa
First do an under drawing, or a rough outline of the main shape, for example, the base of the red spider flower is a triangle. Draw a light shape, then add details. Press heavier on your pencil as you make it more final.
Phebalium squamulosum
Pseudanthus pimeleoides
