  • add the main shapes

  • add details

How to draw an animal

  • Observe an animal.

  • If your animal will stay still you can draw it live. Or you can take a photo of it to draw from.

  • Work out the main lines of your animal's body. This is similar to drawing a stick person. Draw these lines softly in pencil.

  • Next look for and draw in the main shapes, such as the shape of your animals head. Draw these shapes softly.

  • Begin drawing your animals features in more detail. This includes its eyes, body covering such as fur, feathers, fingers or claws and other unique features. Press harder with your pencil for this layer of your drawing.

  • If you observe shaded parts of your animal you can add shading. This will make your drawing look 3 dimensional.

Everything is optional. This is your drawing.

You could label your animal. You can write things that you wonder about and notice about your animal if you want.
