Difference and Diversity

PDHPE develops students’ understanding and appreciation of difference and diversity. In PDHPE, students are provided with opportunities to learn about empathy and inclusivity, interpret different perspectives and challenge stereotypical or prejudicial representations of diverse groups within the context of health and physical education. Students have opportunities to learn about the diverse meaning of health and physical activity within their communities and explore how different individuals and groups value health and wellbeing. They can recognise their similarities with other people, better understand their differences and are provided with the opportunity to demonstrate respect for diversity in a range of health and movement-based contexts. Students are provided with opportunities to practise and plan inclusive strategies to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of groups and advocate on behalf of themselves and others
