The basic purpose of all research proposals are to convince the reader that:
The research project has clear objectives
The research project is worth doing (i.e. it is significant / important in some sense and will make an original contribution to knowledge / understanding in the field)
The proposed methods are suitable and feasible
There is a well thought plan for achieving the research objectives in the available timeframe.
EVERY Year 10 student MUST complete an experimental design proposal form (found in Google classroom)
After you have submitted your completed form, a teacher will review your responses
Your proposal will either be APPROVED or REJECTED
If your proposal is REJECTED → You must re-submit a new proposal UNTIL it is approved.
Once you have gained approval, you may start your experiments
NOTE: If you change your experiment after it’s initial approval, you MUST tell your teacher → We will be keeping a record of what each student is doing for their experimental design
What is the "Real-life" question you are attempting to answer?
What is the aim of your experiment?
Identify your independent variable
Identify your dependent variable
What materials will you need for your experiment?
What type of data will you be collecting?
How do you plan on collecting your results?
How much time will you need to complete your experiment?
Identify any possible barriers/issues you may come across during your experiment.
