Yes - some parents find it helpful for their child to transition to school and OOSH by enrolling them in vacation care (a holiday program that is held on school premises). Please contact the Metella Road Out of School Hours Child Care centre (OOSH) at http://www.metellaoosh.com.au/ for more information.
The Department of Education have very strict processes regarding Out of Area enrolments.
As Metella Road Public School's enrolment level far exceeds the number of available places, we must abide by non-local enrolment criteria and use a panel to consider and make decisions on all non-local enrolment applications.
Applications for non-local enrolment may be considered using the following criteria:
Sibling(s) already enrolled at the school.
Compassionate circumstances.
Medical and/or student welfare needs.
Proximity and access to the school.
Safety and supervision of the student before and after school.

Yes! We do have open classrooms.
During our Kindergarten Expo, parents are invited to tour the school which is led by an executive team member and our student leaders. Part of this tour involves visiting classrooms and seeing the amazing things that our school has to offer. This year's Kindergarten Expo will take place on Tuesday, 28 October 2025. Parents can come anytime between 6:00pm and 8:00pm, with tours taking place regularly throughout the evening.
If your child has additional learning needs, and you feel he or she would benefit from extra time within a Kindergarten classroom, please contact our administration office to set up a meeting with our Early Stage 1 Kindergarten Assistant Principal.
Kindergarten Orientation will take place over two days and run from 9:15am to 10:45am. Students will be organised into two groups. Group A will have their orientation days on Tuesday, 4th and 11th of November 2025. Group B will have their orientation days on Wednesday, 5th and 12th of November 2025.
If children have complex learning needs, additional time within a Kindergarten classroom may be required to support their transition to Kindergarten. If this is the case, after Kindergarten Orientation, we will be in touch with you to organise a time for your child to visit the school. This will not only provide him or her with time to adjust to the new space, but will provide staff with the opportunity to prepare for your child's needs.
Our priority is to support the smooth transition for children as they move from pre-school / daycare to Primary school. If your child has complex needs, please contact our administration office to make an appointment with our Learning and Support Teacher. We have a school psychologist that is able to visit pre-schools to conduct observations and support school transition.
