We travelled to Back Creek TSR, which took about 15 minutes from school. The TSR was behind a gate, but Lorraine and Rob let us in.
Mr Lenon drove us all out to the TSR, and we used the school iPads to explore and take photos.
After a talk from Lorraine...
and from Rob...
we were ready to explore the TSR.
We explored Back Creek TSR and took photos of all the flora and fauna we could find. It was very windy and very dry. There were lots of snow gums at Back Creek and lots of grasses. We saw moss and lichen. There were tussocks and grasses. When we looked carefully, we found insects, bugs and spiders.
It was good to have experts with us. Lorraine and Rob showed us how to find insects hiding in tree bark and under logs, and to make sure we took photos of the leaves, bark, flowers, nuts and seeds of trees and plants to make them easier to identify.
We hope to use Nature Mapr to help protect living things, but we were too late for some!
