To learn more about different ways to sample the biotic features of an ecosystem.
What are the biotic features of a habitat?
How do we measure biotic features?
During your fieldwork, crab populations will be estimated using sampling techniques. These make an estimate, which is roughly accurate of the population.
Abundance refers to the number of individuals in the area. A 1 metre x 1 metre quadrant will be used to measure abundance of crab holes, the assumption being that crab holes = number of crabs. Click here to read the paper that references this.
