Mangrove ID

Grey Mangrove Profile

"A small stout tree, usually about 4-6m high, it is the dominant mangrove in coastal NSW."

"Its roots breathe by means of fibrous woody pneumatophores which arise from horizontal cable roots around the tree."

Robinson, L. 2003. Field Guide to the native plants of Sydney. Kangaroo Press

River Mangrove Profile

"A small mangrove tree, usually 3-4m high, less common than the Grey Mangrove and located in less saline water, i.e. upstream and inland from the Grey Mangrove. It breathes through lenticels (air pores) at the trunk base."
