Opportunities for additional support and extension are provided through differentiated learning experiences, but are also supplemented through specific learning programs such as literacy/numeracy groups and team-teaching situations, in class programs and through the Learning Support & Aspire Team.
Current educational research advocates feedback as a crucial practice for supporting effective learning. Students are provided with constructive feedback every day, as well as informal one to one interviews, conducted on a regular basis by the teacher. These interviews allow students to discuss and reflect on all aspects of their learning, including how they can further develop their strengths and work on areas of improvement.
Critical and Creative Thinking routines will be embedded throughout the curriculum to assist learners with generating and applying new ideas, identifying alternative explanations and transferring knowledge across various contexts and key learning areas.
HPGE learning will be catered for across the four domains. Rich differentiation practices and alternative pathway programs will be explored for individual, targeted students.
Home learning activities are optional. For K-2 this will begin in Week 6. Home Learning Grids for Stage 1 will be handed out at the beginning of each term for the whole term. All K-2 Learners will be given home readers at their instructional level each Monday to be returned on a Friday. Please ensure your child has a plastic envelope to protect their home readers.
The single most important thing you can do to help your child with their learning at home is to encourage reading. This may include providing a quiet space and time for them to read at home, listening to them read aloud, reading to them, asking them questions about what they are reading or taking them to the local library.
The home learning grid reflects learning that is occurring in class as well as providing opportunities for authentic learning at home. Home learning books are sent home each Monday and can be handed in for feedback on Friday. Please note that Kindergarten will not be expected to complete a home learning grid. This is for stage 1 only.
Sport days are on Fridays; please ensure your child comes to school in their full sports uniform, including sport shoes.
Each class has crunch & sip during each morning session. This is where students can crunch on a fruit or vegetable and sip on some water while continuing to learn.
Send children to school with a healthy lunch. Lunch can also be ordered from the canteen on Monday and Wednesdays.
In the event of your child being away from school, please explain their absence within two days via School Bytes.
