Best Start Kindergarten Assessment is a literacy and numeracy assessment conducted for all Kindergarten students in the first five weeks of school.
The assessment will take 30-40 minutes and will be conducted by a teacher on site at the school. Parents/carers remain at the school during the assessment. There is no need to prepare your child for the Best Start assessment.
Best Start identifies student’s literacy and numeracy skills on entry to Kindergarten. It has been conducted in all NSW public schools since 2010.
Further information on Best Start is available from the NSW Department of Education website at:
Parents will receive feedback from the Best Start Assessments at the end of Term 1 at the Parent/Teacher Interviews.
