THE NEXT KELLY SLATER???

Author: Tom Deakin

Young gun Koby Scharkie from Kincumber High School has found a passion in surfing. People have discovered that he is quite a talent at this sport and many people ( well maybe Jamie and I ) are already comparing him to the legends of surfing and especially Kelly Slater. His talent gave him an opportunity to make an appearance on My Surf TV this year where he was a part of a Mentawis trip to showcase his skills after Avoca Board Riders placed 1st in the Australian Boardriding Battle. He was chosen from a select few and he got his chance. I got a chance to talk to Koby about his passion for surfing and how far he believes he can go. Here it is below :).

THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND HIMSELF, TOM DEAKIN.

Author: James Langston

Yes we all know he talks himself up a bit, but he truly does walk the talk too. He's got the golden glove, and two Aussie titles under his belt (66kg in 2016 and 52kg in 2015), he claims these are good achievements even though we all know boxing is one of the softest sports of the world.

Just kidding, Tom's achievements are outstanding and it has been awesome to see him achieve such high level accomplishments at such a young age. Tom is a great bloke in the community and is a good role model for all young athletes out there to look up to. So if you see him, get around him and wish him the best of luck on his journey to becoming a star and succeeding in his future pathways.

Tom's other great passion lies in the sport of Rugby League. Tom plays for the Kincumber Colts on a weekend and his favourite position is hooker. His representative honours so far, include: Central Coast Country Cup Team (u14s and U15s); Sydney Red Team (U15s); Central Coast Harold Matthews Team (U16s 2017/2018).

.. and not to forget the awesome performance of the mighty Kincumber High School U15s who went all the way to the state final of the All Schools competition in 2017 with Tom as the skipper.

So, being so good at two sports is quite the dilemma. Which path will he choose? Only time will tell.
