Is your child not sure about what he/she wants to do after school? It is important to start thinking about this process in stage 5 and start planning for the future.

Here are two suggestions to get you going:

1. My Career Match.

This is a useful program that takes 15 minutes. Based on the answers your child gives to a series of questions it determines a personality type.

It then gives a range of careers that suit people with this personality type.

However, it doesn’t take into account other characteristics that matter - for example their physical or academic abilities.

• Go to www.mycareermatch.com.au
• Then Student, Start, Profile
• The school code is KIN:247
• Type your school email (it is the one that ends in @education.nsw.gov.au)
• You may be blocked at some stage if so, go to TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, PRIVACY, ADVANCED and follow the prompts.
• You can print these out.

This does not however, solve all your problems, but is a good starting point and a conversation starter.

2. JobJump

This is an excellent program we subscribe to and is well worth exploring. It has a full range of careers and university courses.

It has plenty of short videos. If you click on the ATAR heading it will take you to all the university courses in NSW and presents them in useful categories.
