Computing Technology 7–10 enables students to develop the skills needed to design, create and evaluate digital solutions for a wide range of industrial, commercial and recreational contexts. Students learn how computing technologies shape the modern world and how digital systems are used to solve real‑world problems.
Throughout the course, students analyse data, design user‑focused solutions, develop websites and apps, build mechatronic systems and create simulations or games. They also learn how to manage and secure data using hardware and software tools, while exploring the social, ethical and legal responsibilities of working with digital information, including privacy and cybersecurity.
Students engage with contemporary and emerging technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, digital media, networks, devices, gaming, graphical data and visualisation tools. They also explore how innovations in computing technology impact society and the environment.
Students will develop skills and understanding in areas such as:
Analysing and interpreting data
Designing for user experience (UX)
Developing websites and apps
Building mechatronic systems
Creating simulations and games
Managing and securing data
Understanding privacy, cybersecurity and digital ethics
Exploring networks, devices and digital communication systems
