Yes. In Year 9, students study a combination of core subjects and two elective subjects. Electives allow students to explore areas of interest and develop new skills. 

Elective subjects are studied for 200 hours across Year 9 and Year 10. Students keep the same electives for both years. 

Changes are not normally possible once classes are formed. Students should choose carefully based on interest, strengths and long‑term goals. 

No. Year 9 and 10 electives do not contribute to the ATAR. However, they can help students discover interests, build skills and prepare for Stage 6 subjects. 

The RoSA is a credential awarded by NESA at the end of Year 10. It records:

• Courses studied

• Grades achieved

• Attendance

• Completion of mandatory requirements

It is the official record for students who leave school before completing the HSC.

Yes. Grades from Year 9 and Year 10 contribute to the final RoSA grade for each course. 

Grades are based on:

• Classwork

• Assignments

• Formal assessment tasks

• Practical work (where relevant)

• Consistent effort and engagement

Teachers use NESA grade descriptors to determine the final grade.
