Dear Parents / Caregivers,
Regional Cross Country
Congratulations to our YPS students who represented our school with pride at the Regional Cross Country carnival. A special mention to Channing who is going through to the State Cross Country Carnival on July 23 - we wish him every success!
Reports
Semester 1 reports will be sent out via School Bytes this week. It was a pleasure to read about our students’ progress and achievement. Please have a conversation with your child about their report and do not hesitate to reach out to the class teacher with any questions.

NAIDOC Week 2025 The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy
The official NAIDOC Week celebrations fall in the school holidays, but here at YPS we commenced our NAIDOC education and celebrations with the Bush Tucker incursion last week where our students learnt about what a typical day on Dharawal Country was like historically, were educated on the different uses of various native plants and got to try some traditional bush tucker. Thank you to Mrs Edwards for her organisation of this incursion.
At YPS, we celebrate NAIDOC term in Term 3, with a focus on Aboriginal Education in our Morning Routines. Mrs Burton and Mr Robson will be working with Uncle Shayne this afternoon to ensure that a local perspective is being taught in our curriculum. We will also celebrate with a visit from the Nyumbar team next term - a fantastic incursion for our students.
We know the legacy of NSW Education has not always been positive for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and we strive to never repeat those injustices and focus on ensuring equity for all our students. Part of this commitment is our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Want to join the RAP Team? Please send the school an email and Mrs Burton will be in touch with you.
Wakakirri
I am so proud of the Wakakirri team, it is shaping up to be a fantastic performance! The students and staff loved watching the dress rehearsal last week. Thank you to Miss Chesworth, Mrs Nicoll and Mr & Mrs Liles for all their hard work. Thank you to those families who have been supporting the program by selling fundraising chocolates. Further information including ticket sales info will be sent out this week.
Kindergarten 2026
If you are yet to enrol your child for 2026, but intend to do so, could you please let the office staff know? We need to advise the department of our enrolment numbers for 2026 and would like to be as accurate as possible. Thank you for your assistance.
