There are responsibilities that we expect our students to take on regarding the iPads. These are simple expectations that help care for the iPad:
Keep the iPad in the case with the keyboard connected
Bring the iPad to school fully charged every day
Use your support network if something is wrong with the iPad
Report damages to the library as soon as possible
The full iPad Expectation Policy can be viewed below.
Holsworthy High School iPad Loan Program
Students and carers must read and sign the Holsworthy High School iPad Loan Program Agreement;
I agree that I will abide by the school’s iPad Loan Policy:
I will use the department’s Wi-Fi network for learning and agree for my device to be connected to the schools Mobile Device Management Software.
I will use my device during school activities at the direction of the teacher.
I will use my own portal/internet log-in details and will never share them with others.
I will stay safe by not giving my personal information to strangers.
I will not hack or bypass any hardware and software security implemented by the department or my school.
I will not use my own device to search for, link to, access or send anything that is offensive, pornographic, threatening, abusive, defamatory and/or considered to be bullying.
I will report inappropriate behaviour and inappropriate material to my teacher.
I understand that my activity on the school network is recorded.
I will bring my device charged every day.
Breakages/Damage/Theft/Loss
Should the device you have been given suffer any damage, become lost or stolen, you must immediately report the damage to the school..
Malicious Damage - If you intentionally damage your device you will be liable for the cost of repair.
Irresponsible or careless use - Failing to care for your equipment properly leading to damage or loss may result in the school seeking cost of damage.
If you are not caring for your iPad appropriately you will need to leave your iPad at school and will not be able to take it home.
Accidental Damage
All accidental damage must be reported immediately, irrespective of whether the damage is to the iPad, or any of the accessories including the pencil, keyboard or case. Damage is to be reported directly to the school.
Accidental damage will be assessed on a case by case basis, you may be required to pay for some types of damage.
Forgotten or Flat Devices
Devices need to be brought, charged, every day. If you forget your device or arrive at school with a flat device below 70% there will be a 3 strike policy. After you arrive at school without a device or with a flat device more than 3 times, you will be asked to see the Head Teacher of our iPad program.
Blocked/Restricted Access
At school access to social media, games and the like are blocked. This is a time based block, which starts at 8.30 pm and finishes at 3 pm, irrespective of your location (i.e. even if you are at home sick the restrictions apply). These should not be accessed regardless of whether this is possible or not. Disciplinary action will be taken against students accessing non-school related material during school hours.
After 3 pm restrictions are lifted to allow students to have more freedom, however this is still a school managed device and appropriate use policies should still be adhered to. Parents may allow access to games and social media at their own discretion.
Parents allowing students to use social media should monitor their children’s use and ensure they are in line with the Departments guidelines.
Parents will be given options to help control and monitor their child's device use and access, however it should be noted that no parental control software is a guarantee and expectations regarding the use of the device should be clearly articulated and agreed upon between the parent and child.
