Aluminum Alloys for Aircraft Wing
2A12 aluminum sheet: The main function of the aircraft wing is to provide lift for the aircraft to support the aircraft flying in the air, and also play a certain role in stability and control. The aircraft wing plays an important role in the overall structure of the aircraft. The 2A12 aluminum alloy is used to make the wing.
The low density of aluminum alloy reduces the overall weight of the aircraft fuselage, thereby reducing the energy consumption of the aircraft. At the same time, 2A12 aluminum alloy has good corrosion resistance, which can effectively reduce atmospheric corrosion to the airplane.
2024 aluminum sheet: Its main alloy elements are Cu, Mg, Mn, and Fe and Si are the main impurities. 2024 aluminum alloy is commonly used in T3 and T4 temper, which has high plasticity, fatigue life, fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth resistance, but its corrosion resistance is poor. It is is mainly used in the fuselage, wings, shear ribs and webs, and other structural parts.
7150/2324/2224 aluminum alloy: In addition to traditional aluminum alloys such as 2024 and 7075, the Boeing 757 uses 7150-T651, 2234-T3951 and 2224-T3511 in the upper skin, lower skin, lower wing surface stringer and spar of the wing, effectively reducing the weight of the structure.
7055 Aluminum: Several Boeing 777 models use new structural materials with light weight and low cost. For example, an improved 7055 aluminum alloy is used for the upper skin and stringers of the wing. This material has greater compressive strength than other alloys. Its performance in corrosion resistance, fatigue strength and light weight is also improved.
