The Dapto High School Chess Club is organised by our Student Support Officer, Mr Tom Pearson. Generally, this involves running trials for a knockout team early in Term 1 each year, with 4 students (plus one reserve) selected to represent the school in the NSW Junior Chess League Regional Knockout. Students also compete in the Sydney Academy of Chess local heats. The school has entered this competition for the last 2 years and have made it to Semi-finals each time (grand finals in 2020). This can be hosted online or at designated school sites.

We also have a number of self-motivated students who use the library space to play against their peers during recess and lunch breaks. We would like to encourage these students to continue friendly competitions and invite peers to join them in a game of Chess online.
