Language Day Celebration at Concord West Public School
On Wednesday, 11th September, we celebrated Language Day at our school. Families joined us for a picnic at recess, followed by open classrooms from 2-3pm. Students created language flowers showing how to say hello in different languages, and made language maps to illustrate where and with whom they speak their languages. Some classes also enjoyed making language masks, learning about traditional clothes in different cultures, listening to international music, and playing a fun twist on silent ball, where students had to say hello in a different language before catching the ball.
It was wonderful to see parents and community members engaging with the classes, especially those who shared greetings, spoke about their culture or read bilingual books. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day a success. We will be displaying the finished language flowers in the office foyer—please stop by to see them!
