Design projects
Costume, set, lighting and promotion
Role of the designer
Students undertaking any of the design projects need to have a clear understanding of the designer's role in their chosen area of set, costume, poster, promotion or lighting design, before work commences.
The designer needs to imagine a directorial vision for the play as a whole and then develop a design concept for their imagined production.
The areas of design in the HSC course include costume, promotion and program, lighting and set.
The content for the individual projects in Design (Set, Costume, Lighting, Promotion and Program) will be based on one of the plays on the Text list for Individual Projects, which may be changed by NESA in total or in part every 3-6 years.
Student activity 1
Explore the 4 design project options by following the links below and completing the student activities. Based on your conversations and learning experiences in Year 11, your teacher might encourage you to explore one specific design project rather than completing activities for all the design options.
